Artist
Damien Tavis Toman was born in Tulsa, OK in 1982, but has resided in New York's Hudson Valley region since early childhood. He began writing songs while an isolated and disaffected youngster, inspired mainly by early punk artists such as the Misfits, the Germs, and the New York Dolls, and Gothic artists like Type O Negative and the Sisters of Mercy. A teenaged marriage, a quick divorce, and the birth of a daughter--along with the discovery of Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave--inspired him to compose more introspective and self-exploratory material, which he began setting to record in 2002. Since then he has recorded 23 albums, drawing from his full range of influences, while trademarking his own unmistakably morose and melodramatic folk-rock style.
