Damien O'Kane (born in Coleraine on 1 September 1978) is an Irish musician He currently lives in Yorkshire and is married to English folk musician Kate Rusby. As well as his solo work, O'Kane is known for his work in the duo Shona Kipling & Damien O'Kane, in Damien O'Kane & Ron Block, and with the band Flook. His first solo album, “Summer Hill”, was released on 5 April 2010, working with musicians such as Kate Rusby, Ian Carr, Dave Kosky, John Joe Kelly and Michael McGoldrick. The album features songs from Northern Ireland and further a-field as well as self-composed instrumentals. His work in the duo Shona Kipling & Damien O'Kane earned both artists a BBC Folk Award nomination in 2007 and their gigs expanded all over the world from Spain to Canada. Having spent a year with Anglo-Irish supergroup Flook, O'Kane's banjo playing took him to many more different venues.
