http://www.myspace.com/damagedkids The Damaged Kids started out a long, long time ago... 1991 to be exact. They are a culmination of two local Venice bands that grew out of the late '80's Venice Scene. Marty Ramirez and Rico Villasenor came from a band called Violence who tore up backyards with the likes of Beowulf, No Mercy, Rim Pests, etc. But in 1991 they saw a group of kids calling themselves Subjugator at the infamous Anti Club in Downtown Los Angeles. Subjugator consisted of Robert Gonzalez on vocals, guitar and Sal Covarrubias on drums. They all decided to unite and create a pure Metal sound that they enjoyed to listen to themselves. After a few months they went under Damaged for a couple of years and played everywhere in L.A. - from the legendary Gazzari's, to the Roxy and the Whiskey, to Coconut Teazer's; they played everywhere. In 1994, Rico left to pursue other musical interests but the three original members traveled on. In 1996 they recruited another Venice local named Don Perez to handle bass chores and the rest, as they say, is history. They decided to go under the original moniker of Damaged Kids, as well. A name that Sal and Robert got from old punk rock alum named Dave "Hurricane" Mitchell, which presumably was a name that Wasted Youth had discarded. So if you want your Metal to be real with a punk edge, go no further that the Damaged Kids - the real shit.
