Dama Nilz is not the girl riding shotgun in her male front-runners car. She is driving, and she owns that car, with a license and registration to prove it. The young lady from Brooklyn, born and raised, has a past that makes 60 year old men feel that haven’t lived. From group homes to jails, drug dealing to cross-country travels, homelessness to world tours, Dama is nothing to play with. Her story pushes her hustle, and her hustle is her music. Dama Nilz started out paying her dues in the NYC underground hip hop circuit, performing at local open mics like EOW, and opening up for Boot Camp Click and Ghostfact Killah. She put out album after album, continuously growing musically with each passing year. Life handed its ups and down to Dama, she would find herself performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in the Winter, working at Applebees in the Spring, performing at Vans Warped Tour in the summer, and then hustling while waitressing that same fall. But with a steady pace and perseverance, the world will soon know and love this crazy broad. In late 2013, Dama teamed up with New Jersey based producer 4Dolo, and Golden Goonz studios, to create “Black Couch”. This album has been reviewed as her best to date, the high-energy club vibe combining perfectly with the honest and clever lyrics.
