There’s no ‘suck it and see’ here - one listen and you’re hooked. It’s the track that everyone’s talking about, and was the subject of an almighty bidding war, won, of course, by Data Records, fresh from their hits with Eric Prydz vs Floyd, Fedde Le Grand, Mason vs Princess Superstar, and more. Originally on Destined Records, ‘Lollipop’ caused an almighty fuss from a slew of promos, going on to receive a veritable hammering by dance uber-lord Mr Pete Tong on Radio 1. Galaxy put it on their playlist 11 weeks upfront, and it’s already getting daytime Radio 1 plays, with XFM and Kiss all following suit. Currently the biggest record in the UK’s clubs, it’s formerly a Buzz Chart and Cool Cuts No.1, with top DJs including Roger Sanchez, Judge Jules, D Ramirez, and more, all giving it heavy plays. We’re not sure how many - if any - pre-surrealist art movements from the early 20th century have impacted on the world’s club scene, but the Dada movement’s aesthetic carries through to this cheeky, funk-fuelled slab of prime electro-house. ‘Lollipop’ is the work of Matt Schwartz, formerly of chart-toppers Deepest Blue and The Drill, and the production genius who can count Massive Attack, and many more, as past projects. Super-cool girl Trix, from hotly tipped electro-punk band, LIPS, is joined on vocals by dance legend, Sandy Rivera (of Kings Of Tomorrow fame and the producer of the house anthem, ‘Finally’). ‘Lollipop’ began life as an instrumental.
