Daan Manneke (Kruiningen, 7 november 1936) is a Dutch composer and organ player. Manneke studied composition with Jan van Dijk, and organ with Huub Houët and Louis Toebosch at the Brabant Conservatory of Tilburg. Afterwards he continued his organ studies with Belgian organist Kamiel d'Hooghe in Brussels. He also took composition lessons with Ton de Leeuw in Amsterdam. Through Ton de Leeuw's friendship he came into contact with Olivier Messiaen, who also taught him privately. In 1976 he received the composition prize of the Sweelinck Conservatory of Amsterdam. From 1958 to 1969 Manneke was organist at the St. Gertrudiskerk of Bergen op Zoom. As a well-known virtuoso he has given many concerts and recitals in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France and the UK. After many years as an organist Manneke became a teacher at the Sweelinck Conservatory in 1972, where he also teaches composition since 1986. Manneke composes mostly sacred chamber music.
