DJ Shapeshifter (Chris Metcalf), is a (mainly) hardcore producer who was born in America, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He began producing music at the age of 14 with FL Studio 4. He started with the alias Teqnofreaq. Now he is 16 and goes by Shapeshifter, or DJ Shapeshifter. The name was chosen because of his ability to create a variety of genres including: Hardcore, Darkcore, Terror, Ambient, IDM, Speedcore, Hardstyle, Industrial, Experimental, Schranz/Hardtechno, Drum n Bass, and more. At about 15 years old, he met up with another producer on YouTube by the name of Goth Von Core, who asked him to join the GvCI record label, and Shapeshifter accepted. Goth Von Core introduced him to the much darker side of hardcore, experimental hardcore. Shapeshifter eventually got the hang of producing that genre. Many of his influences include: Delta 9, Ophidian, Neophyte, Evil Activities, Unexist, Art of Fighters, Angerfist, Meccano Twins, and many more. Now he skips around through genres, for instance, for a month or so he will produce Mainstream Hardcore, then Darkcore, then Schranz, then something else for an entire cycle, hence the name Shapeshifter.
