Artist
Paul Jaymes, styled as DJ Paul JaYmes, is an English DJ who played in Cornwall, Bath and Manchester during the 1990s. His signature genre is progressive/hard house. He was resident DJ at Bath University from 1994 to 1995 where he also played regular commercial dance and 80s nights. Paul grew up in Cornwall in the 1980s where he began as a mobile DJ, playing his first gig aged 9. Around 1990, when the rave scene was arriving in Cornwall, he played an event at Truro School alongside Grant Wilson-Claridge, later to be the founder of Rephlex Records, and Richard James, later to become Aphex Twin. Inspired by the styles of music and DJing he'd never seen before, Paul moved onto the dance scene and later played at local clubs including The Twilight Zone in Redruth and The Shirehorse in St Ives, alongside the then-common unlicensed parties in barns and fields.
