DJ Lucio K, aka Dr. K, is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began his career as a DJ in 1987. He spent the next 8 years touring Brazil and working with Brazilian artists. In 1995 he spent a summer performing in Formentera, Spain and Ibiza, an island off the coast of Spain. This launched his international career as he proceeded to perform in South Africa, the Ukraine, Canada and the U.S. He fuses modern technique with retro style, mixing music from Brazil and and other Latin music scenes. You can often hear Afro-Brazilian, Brazilian Jazz, Sambalanco, Bossa-Nova and Brazilian Funk and Soul music, largely from the 60s and 70s, in his set. He started working as a producer in 1998. His production style is often influenced not just by Breakbeats, Drum'n'bass and house music, but by Brazilian rhythms like Bossa Nova, Samba, Samba-Rock, Carimbo, Baião, Candomble and other root rhythms of Brazil.
