DJ Language is one of New York City’s premiere underground DJs. Renowned for rocking dance-floors worldwide with smooth blending skills and an impeccable selection of tracks ranging from the deepest underground dance classics and obscure Soul and Funk break-beats that are the foundation of Hip-hop, to classic and new underground Hip-Hop, left-field Soul, Electro, R & B, Reggae, Afro-Beat, Disco and House, DJ Language has been schooling club-goers since 1995 with eclectic yet coherent sets that span over thirty years of musical genres Born and raised in Chicago, his diverse musical sensibility and mixing style have been strongly influenced by that city’s rich musical tradition, especially its heritage as the birthplace of House music. After buying a used pair of turntables and a mixer in 1995, Language quickly established himself as one of Chicago’s hardest working DJs, holding down as many as five weekly residencies (including the bi-weekly Wednesday Reggae party at Joe’s Pub in New York City). Moving to New York City in 1999, he teamed up with Philadelphia DJ and producer Rich Medina the following year to throw the weekly Stoned Soul party, which grew into one of downtown’s best-attended and beloved Saturday night parties, and was named as one of NYC’s best parties by Flyer magazine.
