Peter René Baumann (born January 5, 1968), known by his stage name DJ BoBo, is a Swiss singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer, voice actor, and music producer. He has sold an estimated 14 million records worldwide and has released 12 studio albums, along with several compilation albums featuring reworked versions of his earlier hits. His discography also includes 34 singles, many of which achieved chart success in German-speaking countries as well as other parts of Europe. BoBo's first major success as a dance music producer came with the single "Somebody Dance with Me," which incorporates the melody of Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me." He went on to release a series of successful singles including "Keep on Dancing," "Take Control," "Everybody," "Let the Dream Come True," "Love Is All Around," "Freedom," "Pray," "What a Feeling," and "Chihuahua." His music is primarily associated with the Eurodance genre, often characterized by female vocal parts combined with his rap verses. Between 1992 and 2007, BoBo achieved 27 charting singles in Switzerland and Germany. He has received ten World Music Awards as Switzerland's best-selling artist and has been awarded multiple Gold and Platinum certifications for his recordings.
