No need to say The Beatles had their big influence also on Turkish music over the years. "D.E.F. Orkestra" was a unique musical project, established by three respected Turkish musicmen in 1998, Dağhan Baydur, Erdal Kizilcay and Fuat Güner (The "F" of the famous Turkish band MFÖ). The core band backed up by a complete Turkish oriental string and percussion orchestra of twenty musicians joined the "The annual International Beatles festival in Liverpool" in August 1999 and became the highlight of the festival. They covered ten The Beatles songs with a new approach in their "Beatles Alaturka" album which was first released in 1999 and then re-issued in 2001. D.E.F. Orkestra were invited to UK again in 2002 to participate the "Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II". They played live during the Queen's goodwill trip to Liverpool in July 2002.
