about

More than 2 artists share the same name "D-RAM". 1) A collaboration between a japanese musician Dee! and several vocalists - 楽乃由重, 野宮あゆみ and 佳織みちる. The unit's name comes from artists' initials. To date they have released their solo album on the AVSS label called "Candy Highway". 2) D-RAM is a collaboration between Glen Tarrant and Reese Barnes. They made one house/electro EP called "S-RAM" which was released in 1995 on Sidereal Records. This whole EP was actually made in 1993 (two years before it was released in 1995). when Reese and Glen were students at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. They picked up equipment such as an SH101, TB303, Sequential Pro-1, TR-707, TR-606, Roland JX-3P and some cheap digital rack stuff. They would record the songs, all tracks at once, as live performances to Hi-Fi VHS tape because it was the best sounding option they could afford. One day in 1995 Glen met Dan Kurzius (DJ Pawn) and Gerard Hansen (Convextion) hanging out at Bill's records in Dallas and told them he had some recordings with Reese and Dan asked for a tape. A few months later he got a call from Dan saying he wanted to put it out on his label Sidereal. Another track from the same 1993 VHS tape, called "The Helgramite" came out in 2001 on the Satellite Cities compilation from Down Low. That's all they have ever published. The influences were mostly based on early Detroit records. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; addit
