about

Dojo was formed in Lawrence, KS, during the summer of 2004 as a one-time studio project for Brian Baggett, Luke Stone and Brad Maestas. They held a last minute recording session before Luke and Brad moved out of state. Ever since then Brian has been itching to play this music live and add to the repertoire: enter Chris Handley and Matt Gader. Dojo is a place for three very talented musicians to play at the top of their abilities. Brian purposefully writes music to challenge all three musicians. The end result is very complex compositions and skillful improvisations that are both fun to listen to and interesting to watch. Although Dojo's music could be considered fusion, the trio and its music transcend any category. This trio is unlike any other group in the Kansas City area, and has already created a following for itself by word of mouth and the reputations of the musicians involved.
