Florian (in the order of Cyril) Goetz was born before May 3, 1793 in Rousinov Novy in Moravia to a middle-class family. He attended schools in Opava and Freiberg (now Prîbor), famous centers of cultural life in Moravia. He was one of the most talented students. During the years of his studies, he made contact with the local music circles, in which he could develop his natural talent. He probably also got his musical education there. After graduating from high school, he went to Częstochowa and on September 21, 1814, he entered the Pauline novitiate at the monastery of St. Barbara. A year later, he made his religious vows. He prepared for the priesthood by attending lectures on philosophy and theology at the General Study of the Polish province at Jasna Góra and at the monastery in Warsaw. In 1816, he was ordained a priest in Warsaw. In the same year, he was appointed to the office of master's degree in the Jasna Góra music band and the convent's cantor. He devoted himself to the duties entrusted to him with zeal and enthusiasm. He revived the band's activity, founded a mixed choir, and made efforts to enrich and diversify the group's repertoire. He was also involved in composing, creating music to religious texts, useful primarily in the liturgy of the Jasna Góra sanctuary. In 1817, Fr. C. Goetz was nominated for a regimental chaplain in the Polish Arm
