Curium is a product of Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix... a confluence of many people, many plans, and many places (while no-place, simultaneously). The band stands, like its city, on the verge of an explosion - bringing to their sound all the anticipation, energy, and longing this position fosters. The roots of Curium go back to 1996, when guitarist Luis and keyboardist Adam met in another band. There, a sound began which continues to be honed to this day. The creative passions and broad talents of the current members - vocalist Doug, bassist Gary, drummer Scott, Luis, and Adam - blend influences of rock, jazz, blues, classical, RnB, funk, and electronic music into a fresh synthesis of sounds that can only be described as Curium. From uptempo to downtempo, syncopated to smooth, Curium fearlessly approaches songwriting with a freedom and abandon that allows anything to happen. Curium's first EP comes after several years of song-writing and self-producing their own brand of music. "Arrival" serves as a proper example of the scope of genre blending they enjoy, equally comfortable playing electro-pop or jazzy funk, all on the undertones of rock. Doug Murphy's vocals cut through and among the guitar's harmonic bases and smooth solos, while the keys and atmospheres tie them all to the rhythmic bass and percussion.
