CREEM TOGO was formed in 1998 in Zaporozhye, Ukraine by musician and songwriter Elias Tikhonovsky. First lineup was: Elias Tikhonovsky - bass guitar, Tanya Levina - vocals, Nikon Oneshko - guitar and Anthony Korshunoff on the drums. In 1999 Elias recorded a very complex, conceptual, heavy-style experimental electronic album CREEM TOGO “Music Of The Flooded Districts”, which was issued by Studio VOX. The band played succesfully for a couple of years until members except Nikon experienced serious drug problems, so in 2001 band didn’t do any public performances and Elias mostly worked to afford his drugs. In 2002 he got into a fire and spent 3 months in a hospital, has undergone three serious operations and… returned on stage. Nikon left the city so the band invited their close friend, a well-known pianist and composer Slava Lavrik, who became a bass player, Elias started to sing and a young and very talented guy Sheva (Serge Shevchenko) became band’s fifth member - alto sax and flute player. That and the next year band did some great live performances, which included many new songs, but drugs did their job again, and on April 29, 2003 Elias had to leave the city not to return again. The last concert they played was an every-year-tribute to Andrew “Best” Bestalanny, a famous drummer and close friend of the band, who died April 11, 2001 of opium overdose.
