Appearing in the wake of acts like the Mosquitos, the Fuzztones, and the Headless Horsemen, the Creatures of the Golden Dawn sound like a band that may have missed their moment in history. If they'd have been around for the '60s garage punk revival (the "paisley underground, " as it was called) in the early 1980's, they'd have had a serious following. As it is, they're not bad-Mark Smith (lead vocals, percussion, harmonica), Mike Lowe (lead guitar, vocals), Kevin Groller (drums), Stu Rutherford (bass, vocals), and Mike Smitreski (rhythm guitar, vocals) look the look, and play with a lot of spirit. Lowe and Smitreski do most of the songwriting, with Rutherford making a small contribution. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
