Crayon Pop (Hangul: 크레용팝) was a five-member South Korean girl group formed under Chrome Entertainment in 2012. The members consisted of Geummi (금미), Ellin (엘린), Choa (초아), Way (웨이) and Soyul (소율). The group have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2016. Originally named Hurricane Pop, the group released their pre-debut track Bing Bing in early 2012. Back then the group featured member Serang instead of Way. Despite being invited to the initial auditions, Way was unable to audition for the group due to being in the indie band - N.Dolphin. However Serang left the group in May 2012 to pursue an acting career and Way was given another chance to join the group. She succeeded and as a result, she left N.Dolphin. Shortly before their debut the group's name was changed to Crayon Pop, as Chrome Entertainment thought the name Hurricane Pop would be insensitive in light of Japan's tsunamis. On July 2012, the group debuted with the single Saturday Night from their debut EP Crayon Pop 1st Mini Album. Their debut did not receive much attention and their album was not commercially successful. Chrome Entertainment's CEO later revealed that the album had depleted all the company's money. On October 24 2012, the group released their 1st single album Dancing Queen and the single Dancing Queen. As part of the promotion, they took to the streets and promoted with guerrilla performances. This was done due to limited opportunities to promote on the music shows - as a result of the company's fina
