Based in North Andover, MA, Cowboys Vs. Bears is a band centered around multi-instrumentalist Mike Moschetto (a.k.a. Il Presidente) and vocalist Dan Belisle, both of whom were formerly in To The End and now play in White Woods. When they reunited to rerecord some TTE demos, they unexpectedly began to write new material that was too far-removed from the traditional hardcore spectrum to release under the old name. Cowboys Vs. Bears, or CVB, is influenced by technical metalcore (Botch), death rock (Doomriders), post-hardcore (Cave In, Engine Down), thrash (Some Girls) and art/noise punk (Sex Positions, Blood Brothers). After releasing a self-titled EP in 2008 and taking time off to work on White Woods, the duo have finished their full-length, In Medias Res, due out in early 2011. To promote its release, they have expanded to a full lineup, including Mike Russo of Aviator on guitar, Mat Willwerth of Pangea on bass and Chris Querengasser on guitar.
