Cousin Junebug is a large instrumental band that plays original and obscure early funk tunes, many of which have rarely been heard since their original performances. Their repertoire includes music by the Kingsmen, Fred Wesley, the Detroit Sex Machines, Shamaeezadeh (an Iranian funk band from the 70s!), the Meters, the JBs and more. With a full horn section and a roster of 8-11 musicians, CJB delivers high energy performances and have featured high profile guest vocalists including Lara Johnston and Nicolette (Massive Attack).
