There is more than one band by this name. 1 - Coup D'état is a screamo band from British Columbia, Canada 2 - formed in New Zealand in 1980 by former members of Hello Sailor and Red Mole and a future member of Mi-Sex. They released one album and several high-charting singles before disbanding in 1981. 3 - Coup D'état is a punk and rapcore band from Kalmar, Sweden, founded in late 2006. Coup D'état consists of the vocalist/guitarist Low T. Leo, bassist Gawain von Goethe, guitarist Miss Cinnemon Scone Islilje and the J-rock/drummer Rödtopp. Originaly the band had thoughts of playing ska, but both Gawain and Leo had been brought up with the punk culture, and since they were writers their music naturally developed into that, even though they ended up being Jamaican-influenced. The band is highly politcal, and define themself as extremist left. In the band's first week of existence they wrote over 10 lyrics and put music to 6 of them.
