Contact Trio were a German jazz group. They formed as Contact in 1970 releasing one self titled album in 1972. Following a line up change they became Contact Trio and released three further albums before disbanding in 1984. They were an underrated trio who played avant-garde jazz with jazz-rock elements. Moreover, the group's incorporation of space and exotic influences gave them an interesting and unusual sound. In 2014 the group reformed as Contact 4tett with all members from both Contact bands.
