Cody Purvis (born January 31, 1994) is an American country music artist. Early life Purvis was born January 31, 1994 in Charlottesville, Virginia to parents Marlina Smith (neé Gurley) and David Purvis. Raised in Virginia, Purvis graduated from Albemarle High School, Class of 2012. Music has always been a huge part of Purvis' life. Purvis was immersed in Country music from a young age, as his mother and father both were singers in local country bands. At the age of two Purvis, was singing in the car seat and as a child always dreamed of being on stage. Career Purvis first earned his recognition as an emerging country music artist when he clinched the title of the local 2010 Colgate Country Showdown. Soon after taking that title, Purvis took another title- “Best Emerging Artist” in Charlottesville. Purvis then experienced Nashville's music scene first-hand when the house band invited him onstage to sing. Turns out that was just the beginning of his performances in Nashville. He performed at two different venues during CMA Fest 2011 including a performance by invitation from Grammy award winning singer Linda Davis. Purvis was also voted “ Best Emerging Performer” in Charlottesville in 2011. Discography In February 2012, Purvis recorded his self-entitled album with TNCP records, his independent record label.
