Club Diana was an indie rock band from Wellerlooi, a village in the southern province of Limburg, The Netherlands. The band was fronted by Marcel Brand, whose tragic suicide in January 2009 (just before the official release of the group's sixth studio album) effectively marked the end of Club Diana's existence. In the late 1980s Brand was the frontman of Nijmegen-based rock band, Indian Summer. He established Club Diana (named after a brothel in the nearby town of Mook) in the mid-1990s. The band's brand of indie rock has been compared by the press to the sounds of American bands such as Pavement and Guided By Voices. Between 1995 and 2009 Club Diana recorded and released two triptychs of studio albums: the first three records (Sauna, Basin and Costa) formed the 'Water Trilogy', the latter three (Match, Grill and Brand) were the 'Fire Trilogy', 'brand' being the Dutch word for 'fire'. The band had promised three more trilogy's to their record label (the 'Air', 'Earth' and 'Meat' trilogy's), but these records will never be written. Marcel Brand ended his life just before the official of Brand, the final 'Fire' installment. He was 43 years of age. Brand and Club Diana hosted an annual, small-scale 'lo-fi' festival-and-BBQ in their home village: 'Wellerlo-fi'.
