Cityscare (2005-2007; 2010-) was formed in early 2005 in Newbury, England by James and Jack. The band grew out of two friends jamming in a loft into something more serious. Recording the basic ideas of songs in Jack's "home studio" on various sequencers, the band managed to get a rough version of an E.P written. During this period, an experimental, entirely improvised mini-album was recorded entitled "Movements". This has become a collectors items for the hardcore fan base, and is even rumoured that not even the old members have copies themselves. After the initial song ideas, the band wasn't sure if the writing had been pushed to its full potential so decided upon re-writing several parts and completely new songs all together. In December 2005, Matt was recruited as bass player and lead vocals, as well as long time friend of the band Craig, filling in for second guitarist. The song writing was dramatically improved with the help of a larger input and eventually enough songs were written that enabled them to start gigging. After a string of relatively uninspiring gigs the bands energy seemed to have fizzled out. This lack of care meant that the band never got around to properly recording any of their planned albums worth of material. As the summer of 2007 came to an end, Matt left for university and the band eventually stopped arranging practices and faded out from the Newbury music scene altogether.
