In their 10 years together Chubby Rae & the Elevators have traveled the countryside playing at some of Australia’s most prestigious festivals including the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival – Byron Bay; the Apollo Bay Music Festival; the Port Fairy Folk Festival; the Gympie Muster; Blues at Bridgetown - WA; the Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival – Narooma and Blues on Broadbeach – Gold Coast to name a few. After releasing their debut album Live at St. Andrews in 2003 the band was awarded Album of the Year at the 2007 Australian Blues Music Awards for their 2005 release She Gets Unruly and are currently working on material for a third album. Marisa Quigley grew up in Darwin moving there at the age of 6 and leaving in 1999 to pursue her musical career. She has a powerful, soulful voice and presence and loves to engage an audience. Marisa was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2007 Australian Blues Music Awards and has been described as “the blackest white woman since Janis Joplin”- Chris Lambie, Forte Magazine. After a wealth of experience with her band, Marisa is now also performing solo with her trusty acoustic guitar. With an eclectic blend of blues/roots, country/folk, a nudge and a wink, a tickle and a poke, her act is passionate, fun and endearing.
