Chromosome Needle is a London (UK) based heavy metal band. Musician/producer Robin Fencott began the project as a collection of raw down-tuned riffs, poly-rhythms and experiments with harsh post-digital guitar processing techniques. While Robin saw potential in his ideas, he needed a new source of inspiration to transform the rough recordings and sketches into full songs. In December 2009 Robin recruited Hungarian death metal vocalist Imre Torok, after being impressed by his brutal vocal performances and intense stage presence. At the time Imre was looking to expand his creative horizons and explore new musical directions, while Robin immediately saw that Imre’s deep guttural vocals and sinister lyrical themes would fit perfectly with his vision for the band. As well as similar musical tastes, a shared passion for all things, dark, cosmic and twisted ensured that the duo quickly formed a close friendship and excellent working relationship. It was Imre who suggested Chromosome Needle as the band’s name, while Robin’s obsession with JG Ballard led him to suggest Uterine Sun as the debut EP’s title. Working around day jobs, studying and gigging with other bands, Imre and Robin continued to write, record and refine their material throughout the winter, spring and summer of 2010. In October 2010 Robin finished the lengthy mixing and post-production process, and Uterine Sun was released online as a free Mp3 download. However rather than simply basking in the warm phosphoresce
