Artist
Chris Sgammato will graduate with a degree in Music Studies (duel concentrations in voice/sax performance) in Spring 2011. He plays sax/clarinet (2000), hand percussion (2000), guitar (2003), and keyboard/synth (2007). Sgammato enjoys performing a wide variety of music, including opera, musical theatre, reggae, blues/rock, jazz, funk, electronic, experimental, and indie/pop. His shows generally involve a loop pedal, guitar, saxophone w/effects pedals, and any other instruments/toys he brings, including (but definitely not limited to) beatbox, bass, clarinet, flute, beer bottles, rice shakers, car keys, pots and pans, rubber chickens, whistles, the "armpit thing", neighbor's dog, etc. Sgammato's shows vary based on the venue and crowd he plays to. If he is feeling the "Indie" thing, he'll keep it to guitar/vox/sax; if some funk is necessary to make some booties shake, he'll beatbox a beat and bust out the bass; if some crooners swing by, he'll lay down a chord progression and play a jazzy tune; if some ragers enter the mix, he'll switch to beats/synth/sax/effects. And if nobody knows what they want (which is often the case), he'll just loop everything and solo over it. Audience participation is key at a Sgammato show; it is not uncommon for Chris to ask the audience what instruments they want him to play, what key, tempo, style, etc. You never really know what you're walking into when you see a Sgammato show.
