Bringing together elements ranging from rock and power pop to experimental electronica, chopshop has energy to burn onstage and in the studio. This 6-piece act from Brooklyn mixes trumpet, cello and synth with the traditional rock elements of drums, bass and guitar to bring the sound they hear in their heads to life. Both male and female vocals mix with lush arrangements, which cross boundries between Interpol, Radiohead, Devo and Joy Division. chopshop's energetic live shows have consistently garnered impressive audience turn-outs in the competitive NYC club scene. They have also received airplay on the XM Radio show The Radar Report, winning a spot as a “Featured Artist of the Week” and as one of the show’s four “Best of 2007” artists. Myspace listens have surpassed 34,000 and a new promotional program is under way as we speak, to expand their fan base. Following the release of chopshop’s first LP, Hugs and Hand Shakes, in late 2008/early 2009, the band will begin promoting the album to broadcast and internet radio stations, stores, online retailers, blogs, labels, and venues in support of and in concert with a busy show schedule in the Northeast.
