After a 4-year career as the lead singer of The Runaways, plus a commercially unsuccessful solo album Beauty's Only Skin Deep (1978), Cherie Currie teamed up with her twin sister Marie (who was originally also invited to join The Runaways) to record Messin' With the Boys (1980). For the recordings the girls were supported by well-known session musicians such as Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, Mike Pocaro, David Paich, Tommy Funderburk and Bill Champlin (amongst others). Unfortunately, the album barely charted in the US; so, before they completed their follow-up album for Capitol, the sisters were dropped from their contract. After the dissolution of their joint work, Cherie continued musical, TV and film appearances, while Marie first pursued working as an actress, but soon entered a civic family life.
