In the fall of 1978 two Ph.D. graduate students from Long Island--- Mark Riegner(Bass, Vocals, Evolution and Ecology), Doug Milman ( Guitar, Keyboard, and Clinical Psychology) and David Martin ( Drummer and Artist) began the avant absurd experiment that will be forever known as Chemicals Made From Dirt. Contracted to appear on the never released Live at CBGBs Volume II they also appeared at Max's Kansas City, Maxwells, A7, Tier3 and other sordid N.Y.C. clubs until 1983. A vinyl 45 was release in 1980 and included the songs Beatniks Looking for Tourists, Oriental Television, Bachelor Party and Uh Oh. This was recently sold on Ebey fro $48. A Flexi-disc was released in Option Magazine in 1983 and included the songs Rapula and Claus Von Bulow. Chemicals have been feaured on several Hyped2Death compilations. Hyped2Death released Chemical's CD Ike in 2004. Ike has gotten airplay on WFMU(N.J), Koop(Austin), KDVS(Davis, CA) as well as Princeton, MIT, Brown and many other radio stations Terre T of WFMU named it a Top Reissue of 2004.
