The Chasing the Dime saga was brought to life almost immediately after the separation of Johan Siljedahl’s former band Exit. They weren’t hitting it off entirely and after a time of inefficiency and setbacks Johan long considered starting something new and fresh and finally made his plans reality. He didn’t have a new band yet, that, however, didn’t stop him from writing songs. Six of them, actually, all of which he used for a six-track demo on which he played all the instruments himself. In the beginning of the third year at Katedralskolan all graduating students choose a subject which they are to write an essay about. Johan saw this as an opportunity to finalize his thoughts on starting a new band and used his project to form a new band and record new songs. He sent a text message to his classmate Henrik Skoog, half drummer/half exhibitionist, and asked him if he wanted to start a band with him as their school project and so the foundation of Chasing the Dime was ready. Two more classmates were then offered positions in the band: Joel Ring on bass and Olle Nilsson on guitar. A third guitarist, Erik Dahlberg, was offered to join the new band because of his remarkable ability to play great solos. Recording sessions started in October of 2006 and ended in February of 2007. The record contains all the songs from Johan’s entirely self-made demo but now with the whole band recording.
