Formed by Birmingham’s own Charlie Jones (BBC Radio 2 Singer/Songwriter of the Year - Finalist 2008) and some of Nottingham and Leicester’s most creative and captivating musicians, Charlie & The Martyrs http://www.charlieandthemartyrs.co.uk are amazing crowds far and wide with their unique style of Pop ‘N’ Roll. Over the years the band have been selected to play various UK festivals, which have included main-stage appearances at ‘Strawberry Fields’ and the venerated ‘Summer Sundae’. They’ve since received support slots with The Go! Team, as well as being personally asked to be main support for Paul Heaton (Beautiful South/House Martins) on his UK Tour (Spring 2011). This year has seen them play ‘sold-out’ hometown shows, and appear twice at London’s esteemed ‘Club Fandango’. They’ve also recorded a live performance for the ‘Showcase’ Channel on Sky TV and have more UK festival appearances lined up over the summer In 2009 the band were handpicked to perform at the prestigious ‘Big Chill’ Festival. From which, set opener ‘Kenny James Tale’ was chosen to feature on the ‘Busking for SolarAid’ album released by the Big Chill Label. Their debonair appearance has also attracted the sponsorship of Vandini Shoes, who personally picked ‘7 Shades’ as the song for their advert campaign and captured the bands ‘live essence’ in a video advertisement.
