The Chamber Choir Hymnia was formed in 1983 and consists of 28 singers. Under the musical leadership of Flemming Windekilde the choir has established itself as a substantial and acknowledged part of the Danish choir elite, giving many concerts and participating in festivals and competitions abroad, where the choir has won numerous prizes. Hymnia has specialized in the performing of newer and often very complex compositional music. The repertoire of the choir particularly includes works for choir from the 20th century and rarely performed a capella works. The choir emphasizes working with Danish composers and has over the years presented much new Danish music including several first performances.
