Born out of the long winter of 2009 and 2010, Central Casting were originally conceived as a backing band for songwriter Douglas E Powell. But it was clear from the start that the musical chemistry between its members was far too great to merely be a backing band. So they started work on material which will eventually become album number 3 for Douglas E Powell. Central Casting's musical influences range from traditional English folk, Americana, rock, heavy metal, punk and electronica. But these eclectic influences aside, Central Casting have a true folk music theme at it's core. Three part hymnal harmonies play alongside fiddle riffs, this blend is all precisely kept in time by the electric bass, banjo and cajon drum. Central Casting are currently in the studio and rehearsing for some live shows in the spring/summer of 2010.
