Artist
Irma Loera (March 13th, 1958 - March 11th, 2008) Irma was a lot of things to many people - a mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin, friend, educator, singer, musician and humanitarian. She passed away from complications of Wilson's disease while awaiting a liver transplant surrounded by an abundance of family and friends at her side. Cecilia ± was a spoken word performer on the periphery of the mid-'80s L.A. performance art scene. She also fit in on the fringes of that city's post-punk community, which has always had a fairly strong interchange with the spoken word medium (i.e., Exene Cervenka's forays into both music and speech). Her 1986 album, little noticed there or anywhere else, had some reasonably effective pieces backed with atmospheric music, and bears some relationship to the work of Patti Smith and (more distantly) Jim Morrison when they chose to speak rather than sing.
