Garrett Seamans is a lo-fi indie musician based in Los Angeles, California. He is known for his music projects postcard boy and later carwash. Born in San Diego, California, he grew up playing saxophone during his fourth-grade years. However, his experience in the school band did not resonate with him, leading him to discontinue formal training. A pivotal moment occurred when he became enamored with the ukulele, influenced by his older sister's engagement with the instrument. This familial connection played a significant role in shaping his musical pursuits. Seamans' foray into music production began during middle school when he engaged in editing surf videos set to the backdrop of the EDM scene on Soundcloud. Seamans' musical interests evolved in high school, gravitating towards indie pop, rock, and the alternative music landscape. These inclinations prompted the inception of his project postcard boy, characterized by electronic-infused vocals and increasingly alternative instrumentals. The name "postcard boy" came from the lyrics "can I be your postcard boy", from a song he wrote but scrapped. He liked the thought of staying in touch via letters, so he kept the lyric as a moniker. His artistic journey took a new turn with the emergence of the moniker carwash in 2019.
