"dark pop dressed in dreams" Carter James Buchanan (born October 29, 1999) is an independent songwriter, multi-media producer, recording artist, and content creator from Brooklyn, New York. James began releasing music at 16 years old. As a graduate of Berklee College of Music specializing in Pop/Electronica, they’ve garnered over 45 writing credits, 50 production credits, and 17 Million+ streams on Spotify. On September 28th, 2018, James released their single "<3". The song's backstory as James puts it: "i wrote this song in 2017 while feeling heartbroken and alone. i recorded and released it independently with little promotion and no editorial playlisting. i didn’t expect anybody to hear it, but somehow you did". "<3" has now amassed over 1 million streams. After releasing three independent EPs and gaining popularity online, Carter signed their first record deal with Universal Music Group. in 2020, and re- released their song "Time", in the same year on April 2nd, backed by U-NXT and UMG. In addition to their artistry, Carter is primary for-folk and Nettwerk artist PEGGY (2021-3). On August 30th, 2024 James returned to music, and released their single "Glacier", and has also released remixes with collaborators.
