Carré Manchot was founded in 1986 by Bombard players Herve Le Lu, accordionist Remi Martin, guitarist Gilbert Le Pennec and violinist Jean-Claude Riou. This birth takes place in the midst of a slump for Breton music ... This will not prevent chaining Carré Manchot sixty-fest noz in the first year of its existence. The originality and quality of many compositions of Remi Martin (musician who has inspired - and continues to inspire - hundreds of Breton accordion), arrangements and "colors" of their innovative music, are certainly not foreign to the immediate success of Carré Manchot, and have also greatly inspired the many groups of fest-noz that followed, creating a new dynamic in Breton music. From 1988, a shift occurs: the band turned professional and joined two new musicians to replace Remi Martin and Jean-Claude Riou. This is "the period of two Ronan" Ronan Robert diatonic accordion and violin Ronan Pinc. They will be part of the team for six years, including bringing their "paw" and their particular style that is very widely from school. It is in this formula that the group has really made known, especially for its music and innovative arrangements - but also for its spirit of celebration, hosting a lot of fest-noz and chaining of many tours around the Europe (Spain, England, Germany, Holland) ... In 1994, both Ronan left the band for other musical projects. To mark the change, Carré Manchot decides to become a quintet. In February 1995, Carré Manchot is formed:
