Born and brought up in Dunfermline, Scotland, Carolyn began writing songs, poetry and short stories at a very early age. As well as taking inspiration from her Scottish heritage, Carolyn's lifelong passion for the works of Robert Burns made her gravitation towards the Scottish traditional folk scene almost inevitable. Her performance of the traditional classic 'Wild Mountain Thyme' on the Royal Oak's 2008 Album The Royal Oak - Best Of Folk (Magic Park Records) received great acclaim. The Sunday Times sighted it as the high point of the album, describing the performance as "spine tingling". In 2009 Carolyn released her debut album An Introduction to Carolyn Anona Scott (Garden Sessions). Consisting of 50% original material, 50% traditional and produced by Jack Foster, An Introduction to Carolyn Anona Scott featured guest performances from such luminaries as Hailey Beavis, Chris Silver, Al James, Eddy Hanson, Martin Boland, Ewen Forfar, Kim Edgar and Sarah McFadyen. This is now available at www.carolynanonascott.co.uk and at folk music retailers across Scotland.
