Artist
CARLO COUPÉ is a renowned spanish composer, arranger, B3 hammond-organ player / keyboardist, producer and DJ. He started his career in 1999 doin’ 3 albums in which he played jazz, soul, pop, brazil, funk. Some of his tunes from these early years were included in movies (like the oscar nominated “Los Lunes al Sol”) and theatrical productions (“XXX” by La Fura dels Baus) In 2003 Carlo created FUNXPLOSION (the first spanish instrumental deep funk combo) and two years later founded THE SWEET VANDALS (he was the hammond-organ player, writer of many of their tunes and producer of their first album entitled “The Sweet Vandals”). Carlo is working today with GLEN ANTHONY HENRY. The songs of this great american soul singer first album (“Relax & Love”, recorded, mixed and produced by Carlo) were written and arranged by himself. He’s also the conductor and the keyboardist of Glen’s band Carlo Coupé is one of the most special and individual producers in the world today. His hot, human and fat sound is absolutely recognizable. Carlo hates the actual recording computer methods and defends the classic techniques. He works at his own Funkorama Studio, where instruments, amplifiers, microphones, preamps, processors... are originally from the 60’s and 70’s. He makes the tracks and the mixes on reel to reel tape machines and controls himself the whole process (recording, mixing and producing) With THE SWEET VANDALS, Carlo vindicated the underground funk sound of the late 60’s and early 70’s.
