Carla Jelena Belovari (*1987) is a female Croatian soul singer. Main influences are classic Funk and Soul artists, such as Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield and Funkadelic, along with contemporary singers Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. Carla was mainly raised in Ingolstadt, Germany, where she attended an arts-related college (Musisches Gymnasium). At the age of 16 she joined the regionally established funk and soul 8-piece The Stevebyrd*band, with whom she recorded the self made album 'Welcome to the Stardust Club' in 2003. After graduating from college, she moved back to Croatia and took up German language and literature studies at Zagreb University. In 2009, she participated in the first series of Croatian Idol (Hrvatska traži zvijezdu) where she finished in fifth place. In late 2009, she signed with Dallas records and published her first single 'Otići na vrijeme'. Her full-length album is to be released in late 2010.
