Carl Orrje is a Swedish pianist currently residing in Gotland, which is one of the biggest islands in the Baltic Sea. There, he is employed by Gotlandsmusiken; a government regional music providing institution. His job includes being a pianist and musical director of Visby Jazz Trio, as well as pianist and arranger for Visby Big Band. Carl Orrje has been working in Gotland since January 2004. Since then his work has included a great diversity of music performance such as classical chamber music concerts, performing George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Mozart’s piano concerto no. 20 as a soloist with orchestra, continuous performance with the Visby Jazz Trio and Visby Big Band, sometimes in collaboration with guest artists such as trumpeter James Morrison or some of Sweden’s foremost singers and instrumentalists. He has also performed with the Visby Jazz Trio in Poland and Slovakia. In 2005 Carl had a composition commissioned by the Swedish foundation for culture. This resulted in a suite for Jazz trio and woodwind quintet. The work was featured on Swedish National Radio in May 2006. Besides his position in Gotland, Carl Orrje also does a lot of freelance work. Since the fall of 2004, Carl has released six albums for the Japanese market. The music includes songs from Korean dramas and movies as well as two albums featuring songs from the Miazaki Aimee movies. All albums are co-produced and arranged by Carl Orrje and have been very well received by the Japanese market. In
