Artist
Carl Friedrich Agthe (26/1/1724, Hettsedt, Germany - 1/9/1787, Pöide, Estonia) was a German-Estonian composer and organist. Little is known of his early education, though it must have been similar to his nephew Carl Christian Agthe. By 1760 he had obtained the post of organist at the Oleviste Church in Reval (now Talinen), a post he held for a quarter of a century. For a year he was also organist at the Pühavaimu Church. Seven large-scale orchestral odes in the style of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach as well as several smaller works for organ have survived.
