Artist
Cari Clara is the experimental music project of Eric Diedrichs, guitarist of Cincinnati-based indie pop band Moth. Mellow, poignant sounds define many of his songs, with flowing, ambient distortions and a few creeping pop hooks. If that weren't enough, Diedrichs' vocals fit the mood impeccably, serving as a guiding hand that simultaneously leads the listener through haunting hollows and sympathizes with the listener's own emotional response to the song. Cari Clara's sound has been compared by some to songs such as Radiohead's 'Exit Music' and 'You And Whose Army?'. However, the project continues to effortlessly evade categorization into a single genre, as many songs rise to somewhat higher paces and contain more percussive yet equally velvety elements. Originally recording songs alone, piece-by-piece, Diedrichs released a self-title album in 2002. This was followed by live performances with the help of other local musicians, including his brother, keyboardist Mark Diedrichs (Turnbull AC's), percussionist/pedal steel player Greg Tudor (Roger Klug) and Ryan Malott (500 Miles to Memphis). In 2004, Miniature American Model Society was released on Tiberius Records. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
