Artist
Careful Dane is a rock trio from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. They formed in December of 2004 with a hasty little jam session in Anthony Franceschi's front room. 6 months later, they made an EP of 5 demo songs. It was a funky little record called "Safety", and it cost $2 a pop. After a year of inspired songwriting, frequent practices, and the occasional show, they recorded their LP, "Naked To The Sky", in summer 2006. With the help of recording student Matt Spady, they put the album together themselves: booklets, covers, CD burning and printing, packaging, and distribution. They continued to perform and rehearse, coming up with new songs and earning a fanbase in San Mateo County. In March 2008, they performed in a battle of the bands whose proceeds benefitted the American Red Cross. They won handily, and their prize was studio time with local DJ Chris Cortez. Their most recent shows are available, start-to-finish, on youtube: June 20th, 2008: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=81DFCD64DCD9989B May 3rd, 2008: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4BE88A3D5D0A83BA The band members are currently on a friendly hiatus, attending different music schools in San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Boston. In December 2008, they returned to the Peninsula and began work with Chris Cortez on their next EP, "Off The Ground", before returning to school for the spring.
