The band consists of: MC Intelligence - vocals Rita Thies - flute, alto sax Adam Theis - trombone Dave Chachere - trumpet Jason Robinson - tenor sax Jason Thwaites - guitar Jason Sherbundy - keys Brad Russell - upright bass Paul Spina - drums From Adam: Cannonball began as a tribute project, with me and a bunch of my college buddies up in Sonoma County playing arrangements I'd made of classic Cannonball Adderley Group recordings. Much to my surprise, the group started quickly gaining recognition in the North Bay. Within a year, the group went into the studio to record this album "live" in front of a small group of friends. It was a little awkward, the thing happened where the small audience wasn't sure if they should clap or be quiet or whatever BUT the music came out great! Also, much to my surprise, with this album in hand, I was able to get this quirky band of white boys from Santa Rosa into gigs at some of the best small venues around San Francisco and beyond, literally paving the way for Jazz Mafia to form a few years later.
