Allow us to describe five songs and twenty-eight months in three hundred words or less. Calling Out Closer introduces Spaces, our first release since two independently-produced formative albums (2009 & 2008). We chose five songs that best displayed our version of indie & alternative rock, drove to Nashville’s Viking Studios, and recorded what we couldn’t wait for you to hear. A mini-album we had hoped that you (and we) would have heard a bit sooner. But much has happened in the last two-plus years. We’ve twice toured independently across the country, as well as played numerous local and regional shows. We’ve written and rewritten over fifty songs; expanding, redesigning, and honing in on exactly what a Calling Out Closer song should be. We’ve crafted a live show that demonstrates the energy and passion we put into our music. We’ve planned, we’ve prayed, we’ve prepared. Twenty-eight months. Five songs. Lots of questions. And a few answers. Spaces showcases where we’re headed by examining where we’ve been. It finally grounds us in the present; a present drawn from an incredible year of touring, writing, and recording. We’ve written what we’ve known: changes, patience, anticipation, excitement. This year promises more of the same.
