Calamateur Vs. Steve Lawson is - thus far - a one-off collaborative project between Scottish Low-Fi experimentalist singer/songwriter Calamateur (AKA Andrew Howie) and London-based solo bass guitarist/looper/soundscapist Steve Lawson. Their collaboration is the fruit of many years of friendship and musical cross-pollenation and brings together their respective approaches to music, taking Calamateur's usual stark, dark, downbeat low-fi experimentalism and combining it with the more textured lush jazz-inflected sound world of Lawson. Their self-titled album was released on Oct 1st 2007, as a download-only release and was a joint venture between Howie's Autoclave Records and Lawson's Pillow Mountain Records.
